Painting Adventures:
John and I returned to San Miguel and Guanajuato, Mexico in February during our rainy season to paint in the Mediterranean climate.
I staked out a bench in one of the pleasant courtyards to paint the Van Gogh Cafe and Don Raf, an ex-bullfighter. *
(See my latest works in Pastels.)
I carried pastels this summer to paint and sketch along the way as we traveled back to the beginnings of time in Greece,
the Greek Islands and Crete. It was both an emotional and educational trip to climb the Acropolis to the site my Dad
had explored when I was a child. He inspired a respect for the wonders of the classical arts. My favorite was Crete (Krite).
We stayed in Hania, drank ouzo, danced to the bouzouki and I was up at dawn painting the colorful fishing boats.
Crete with its Minoan ruins, beautiful coves, lively people is a painters paradise.
